Google creates best doodle *ever* to celebrate Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday

Legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury would’ve been 65 today. He’s terribly missed as a performer but his music is played daily around the world. You’ll hear it on radio stations, TV ads and (unless you’re completely devoid of musical taste) on your own CD player, tape deck or turntable. There will never be another Freddie. And Google agrees – which is why they used today to create their best Google Doodle in the search engine’s history. Watch it below. Or even better, come back and watch it once you’ve dressed up or put on a moustache and gone Freddie For A Day.

Remember Felicia Mabuza-Suttle? Sing along … you know the words.

As much as we all laughed at some of her outlandish guests and dodgy sets, Felicia made a significant contribution to SA television, in her own way, answering to no one and totally in charge of what she wanted to achieve. She reached millions of viewers with a voice that spoke to the hearts of many, despite those weird contortionist/preacher/politician combo shows that were slotted in every few weeks.

The thing I remember most about the show was the joyful intro, sung by a group in chorus. So sing it together now people … Fe-lee-shee-ya, Fe-lee-shee-ya!
