ANC online banner campaign
Much has been written about the various South African political parties’ online activity this year, particularly around their approach to social media.
The DA launched their flagship social product Contribute to Change and the ANC created My ANC. Both sites are obviously very much pull destinations.
What’s interesting to note is that as we move closer to the elections on 22 April, the ANC has added some push to their online strategy, with a banner campaign across a few major SA properties, like IOL below.
I’d be interested to know what results this campaign has yielded. Is the ANC aiming for measurable clicks and registrations at My ANC or are they simply seeing this as a blanket awareness campaign as an extension to their street pole ads?
Whatever the case, it’s always encouraging to see the increased use of the online space in every sphere of society, even politics.
